Everybody goes through tough shit. I was in a complicated situation for awhile with a dude who wasn't at all straight edge. But you know, I thought it's my choice, and he respected it so I should respect his. But anyways, obviously this girl didn't treat you how you deserved. I don't know the whole situation but maybe she just wasn't able to continue a relationship anymore for herself. People have inner battles and from what it sounds like, she just didn't know how to handle them. Like other people are saying, it just takes time. Focus on your life and all the good that's in it. Don't give up hope.

Thank you, Tara! I've noticed a lot of these sort of, "well screw her...it will catch up to her" comments as if these people are maliciously deciding to leave their partners. When someone leaves it is to better themselves, which isnt inherently malicious or mean-spirited.

Using the encompassing "they" is fucked up dude. People in general have the potential to do really kind things and the same potential to do really selfish mean things. PEOPLE not girls, not boys, not men, not women, not any other gender.
If someone leaves you its because they wanted something else.

This sounds just like my friend's story...dated a girl for three years and she changed alot during the last 3 months of the relationship. Now that girl is a little rebel but at least my friend had his band to get him through the pain.
I have never been in a relationship that long so I'm not going to act like I can relate because that sucks. You look like you are a sincere person so I'm sure you'll find something special eventually.

Well thank you guys for the kind words. At the time I wrote this I wasn't looking for any sympathy, I simply thought it would be beneficial to others to share my experiences, and of course while doing so I may have sounded a little pissed and biased. It doesn't affect me and things are great in my life now.
